We have such a sweet wedding to share with you guys today; one that’s sure to inspire couples who want to make their wedding day personal + fun – and maybe include a little bit of whimsy! Amy + Craig created a day that was perfect for them, foregoing any tradition they didn’t deem a fit for their playful personalities. When Amy told us the day felt like an enchanted backyard dinner party that took a sweet break for a wedding ceremony, we knew their wedding was going to be good! And as soon as we saw Nichols Photographers‘ gorge images from the evening, our suspicions were confirmed. Here’s a bit more about it from Amy:
Craig and I are an easy-going, nature-worshipping, foodie, full-of-love couple, and we wanted our wedding to reflect that. This would be the first time that both of our families, in their large entirety, would come together, so we wanted to create a Sunday afternoon picnic atmosphere. Eden East at Springdale Farm was the perfect setting! We kept our guest list small, only 70, to keep the intimate feel of a family gathering.
We didn’t walk down an aisle. Instead, we had everyone gather around a grand tree, and we entered the circle holding hands. We exchanged personally written vows with a lot of love and humor. We even had some group participation, and the ceremony closed with spontaneous dancing by all our guests.
Isn’t Amy’s Free People dress so lovely? It feels like such a great fit for her!
The tablescapes were so lively + fun with dip-dyed linens and vintage amber goblets. We’d say Amy + Craig’s vision for an enchanted backyard dinner party definitely came to life!
So many cute details put together by both Loot Vintage Rentals + Bird Dog Wedding (who also crafted the pretty, pretty florals!).
At dinner, our guests passed serving dishes family style to enhance the feeling that we are one big family and that we were indeed sharing with one another. We invited everyone to sample the array of petite desserts rather than cut a traditional cake.
A few parting words from Amy, Craig and I feel grateful for the life journey that prepared us for one another and to our close friends and family who helped us along the way. Our wedding day was a celebration for ALL of us. Because we wanted the event to be a “thank you” to those who have shared their lives and love with us, we requested no gifts. Even the wedding dress, with all its mirrors, was chosen because it would reflect all of the love and support of our loved ones.
When planning your special day, remember to be true to your personalities. Create an event that you would enjoy attending. And do not do anything just because you think you are supposed to!! This is your day, let it genuinely reflect YOU!!
Thanks, you two, for sharing your sweet, sweet day with us!
