By now you’ve probably heard that Marsala is the Pantone 2015 Color of the Year, but what you may not know yet is how to incorporate this stunning shade into your wedding design! Jill from Layered Vintage felt inspired to pay tribute to the hue and interpret the color of the year into a shoot to help inspire brides to experiment with Marsala for their big day!
She says, This rich and passionate hue could easily be taken down a very traditional road, but instead we took an off beat path to an industrial venue and took an edgy interpretation on some of the wedding classics. Marsala of course reminds me of wine so I hand dyed fabric in dyes and in red wine to create an ombre effect on some macrame interpreted wall hangings. Some of the leftover fabric was turned into ribbons for the guests place cards as well as the thank you tags on the to-go growler favors– both dressed up with the talented hand of Taryn from Twinkle & Toast. Those fabric pieces and vintage trim were used to also dress up the insane bouquet Natalie created for our bride. She took a pallet I created specifically for the floral design and ran with it.
Let’s see how Marsala was used in Amy Lynn Photography’s pretty captures below!
A big ‘ol YES to that wild bouquet by the very talented Native Poppy!
We adore the cute macrame hangings + industrial vibe of this table vignette.
Twinkle and Toast calligraphed some signage for the dressed-up bar cart filled with fancy craft cocktails.
A wardrobe change (both dresses were from Dress Theory) with pretty velvet Marsala vibes.
Are any of you now inspired to incorporate this hue into your day? It would be so pretty for a fall or winter wedding, don’t you think?

I like how rich the marsala color is and her second dress is quite lovely! Love her earrings too.
