Silhouettes!

I’ve kind of been obsessed with silhouettes lately. I think they can work for a vintage theme or more modern wedding theme. Whether you incorporate them on your invitations, desserts, jewelry, or other decor, they will bring a custom feel to your day. I also love the idea of silhouette wall hangings displayed at the wedding with a beautiful ribbon to match your colors. Classic beauty! … will you be using silhouettes in your wedding?

Another fun idea is to hire a silhouette artist to come to your wedding. Karl Johnson is an amazing silhouette artist and he lives here in Los Angeles. Having a silhouette artist at your wedding is a unique way to allow your guests an opportunity to take home a charming and wonderful keepsake of themselves and of your day. You can also send him a photo (before the wedding to use that day or after to keep as a memory) and he will create a custom piece for you.

The photos below are from two different weddings he worked at. Working in under three minutes, Johnson made two copies of each likeness at once – one, pasted onto paper, was given to each guest and one to the couple as a surprise. Love that!

Beautiful dessert table by Amy Atlas. Love how she incorporates silhouettes with this library theme.
