Handmade Bohemian Ranch Wedding: Rikki + Justin

Mexi Boho Wedding

Rikki + Justin basically grew up together, but started dating + fell in love six years ago. Their wedding, which was held at Rikki’s family ranch estate, was a true community affair, with almost everything imaginable being DIY. What wasn’t thought up by Rikki + her family was brought in by her + Justin’s talented team of wedding creatives. And pulling together their ideal team was easy. As soon as the two were engaged, Rikki knew she had to have three very important vendors on board: Allie Lindsey PhotographyLavenders Flowers + 10.11 Makeup. (A major fringe benefit to her being in the industry herself, as co-owner of the rental company, Renewd Furniture.)

Rikki tell us, With 4 months, a $14K budget and our vendors booked; my mom, my sister + I set out to execute a pretty fun, family-style Spanish/Mexican/Boho day in the fields. We made 30 benches for the ceremony and 7-20 ft picnic family style tables for the reception using mostly reclaimed barn wood from our ranch. My mom, sister and I made all the DIY stuff; the three of us love power tools and we did a lot of creating during those months! My Aunt Debbie made my naked wedding cake and she had never made one before. My Nana Betty made all my Mexican wedding cookies and apple/berry empanadas. I truly have one talented family and somehow, it all worked amazingly. And after all the planning, as I walked down that aisle, I didn’t think of a single detail that was missing. All I could think about is how much I loved the man I was walking toward and how amazing it was that we were lucky enough to be committing our lives to each other in front of all our loved ones.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Don’t go on Pinterest for the few weeks leading up to your big day. I decided not to, and it was one of the best decisions I made. Finish the details that you started first, and I if you have time for some last minute details that’s great, but don’t force them if they don’t work out.
