Modern-meets-Western Wedding Inspiration

Terlingua Texas Inspiration

You guys, when photographer, Clayton Austin, and designer, Lauren Field, get together, only (really, really) good things can happen. Today’s stunning feature truly proves that point, and showcases some super pretty modern bohemian wedding ideas that we’re sure you’re going to love, love, love.

Inspired by the big sky of west Texas and its ever evolving “mood” from the early sunrise to dusk, Lauren conceptualized a scene filled with hints of metallics, untamed native desert foliage, translucent paper goods + a stunning, modern silhouette wedding dress. She tells us, This elopement story is about capturing the placid romance of the desert while showing the strong yet easy-going connection between two people. We chose a tone-on-tone palette of dusty hues inspired by the desert landscape and crystalline structure of mined elements in the raw. The location was set at a remote adobe dome in the Chihuahuan desert near the ghost town of Terlingua, Texas. The chalky textured adobe provided a stunning backdrop and we were inspired by the surrounding natural beauty.

The bridal bouquet Clayton + Lauren created – filled with white peonies + lambs ear – is so, so pretty.

On the tablescape, Lauren says, We foraged native foliage for the table to sit in terracotta pots in an unconstructed way atop the raw unfinished wood. The vintage gold lattice chairs were layered with plush wool to bring a layer of warmth to the cool metal.  We chose copper flatware, soft grey plates, and vibrant napkins to set the table.

The two-tier square cake was another brilliant idea, dreamt up by Clayton + Lauren. Sometimes simplicity is best, right?!
