Retro-Woodsy Mountain Wedding: Elisabeth + Mike

bride and groom

Elisabeth + Mike are an adorable, fun-loving couple who’s style is a little quirky and filled with personality. They love all things vintage + retro and wanted to infuse that nostalgic goodness into their handmade Nor-Cal mountain wedding. They chose a vibrant color palette of mustard yellow + mint green and DIY’d every last detail – big and small! They also incorporated nods to their extensive travels and Mike’s Mexican heritage in the form of thoughtful details + delicious cuisine. Sounds like a wedding that would have been such a blast to attend! :)

From Elisabeth, Our main goal was to make the day a fun and memorable experience for our families and guests – we really wanted our wedding to be a great time and feel like a celebration for everyone involved.  We tried to add in a lot of details about Mike and I as a couple so that it would also feel intimate.  We didn’t really have a strict theme, but the general idea behind our decorations was vintage/travel/rustic.  Mike and I lived in Dubai and have traveled to about 20 countries together so we tried to incorporate that passion into our decorations by using old maps and vintage travel postcards for our table numbers.  Our venue, The Brazil Room, is located right in the middle of the woods, so we thought that rustic would be the most appropriate type of decorations so that we weren’t fighting against the beautiful scenery of our venue!

Thanks so much to onelove photography for sharing these super lovely images with us today + congratulations to Elisabeth + Mike!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

It’s difficult to choose the most memorable moment of the day, but I loved our “first look” – it was a great to have a private moment together before the whirlwind of the day really started. We were able to just smile at each other and feel the excitement of the day.

Ok how much do you love the playful bridal party attire?! The ladies picked out their own dresses (and some even hand-dyed their frocks to be the perfect shade of yellow!) and Elisabeth’s “Men of Honor” wore super stylish mustard pants!

Vintage postcards + no. 2 pencils (since Elisabeth is a school teacher!) were left at each place setting to encourage guests to jot down their well wishes for the duo. And the succulent centerpieces were hand-grown and potted by Elisabeth + Mike!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

As soon as I got engaged, a friend told me, “No matter what, you can’t please everyone, so just make the day exactly what you want it to be”. That was great advice for me, because I definitely try to make everyone happy. If that is your goal throughout the planning process, you are going to add an incredible amount of stress to the process!
