Smog Shoppe Wedding: Gigi + Grant

Today’s pretty wedding was sent over from the talented photography duo of Erin Hearts Court and takes place at one of my favorite LA venues, the Smog Shoppe. Gigi + Grant really wanted all aspects of their wedding to feel like them and be a reflection of their style together. I just adore their pretty color palette, flowers and Gigi’s invitations she designed. Congrats to Gigi + Grant!

What song did you walk down the aisle to? I walked down the aisle to a beautiful song called Angeline by our Bluegrass band, American Primitive. As soon as I heard them start playing it I got so emotional — before even starting to walk down the stairs! Our first dance was Something There is About You by Bob Dylan.

Such a pretty table! Lovely floral design by Brown Paper Design. From Gigi, “Our families were involved throughout the planning as well (down to hunting for milkglass throughout Pittsburgh, where Grant’s family lives, and at the Long Beach and Pasadena flea markets here in LA with my family) so in the end it felt personal and was a great celebration of our love and life together, and also of our families coming together.”

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

There were so many! One of our favorites was when about midway through the last slow song of the night, everyone spontaneously formed a giant circle and danced all together. Grant and I just kept looking at each other from across the circle, laughing and amazed by what had happened.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Make sure to remember what the day is really about – the two of you and your families. Don’t feel pressure to do everything you’re “supposed” to do. You and your guests will enjoy the day more if it feels like you, and not like a magazine. It's true that it all goes by super quickly so try to take sometime to really take everything in. When else are all of the important people in your life going to be in one room together (dancing in a giant circle)?

At a certain point, you have to trust the people you hire or ask to help you. I’m a little bit crazy when it comes to details and design but at a certain point, and especially on the day-of, I just had to let everything go. Everyone we worked with did such a phenomenal job putting the day together — it was better than I could have imagined.
